Earlier this month, Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue, a dog rescue organisation in New Zealand, took in a terrified pitbull, Nala, who was ‘extremely shutdown and terrified’ after wandering the streets for weeks.
The shelter’s owner, Abbey van der Plas, spent two days desperately trying to coax the shaken dog out of the corner of her cage and gain her trust, but wasn’t able to do so.
At the end of day two she decided to call over her seven-year-old son Zach to sit by her side, and almost instantly, the once shy dog jumped up and walked straight over to him without hesitation.

‘My boy Papa has been showing her the ropes and of course she loves the kids. She doesn’t like being left alone and needs some confidence building but she’s a super sweet girl and one day soon some family will be lucky to have her!’
